Hi!

I'm about to leave, have been working on the browser day proceedings a
little today (after recovering from Queen's Day) and it seems that I'm
hopefully even getting a little money from it.

The pressure, this financial crisis or whatever, has kept me away from
working on the presentation but in free-time it has been in my thoughts a
lot and is starting to form. Hopefully I get to work it out soon.

The end of this Friday net session, however, was again stimulating
experience on-line. I'm afraid that the legendary #42 was not included
anywhere in the material you've seen - it definitely should. It's perhaps
the most peculiar channel I know and very influental in many important
Finnish people's personal life.

#42 is .fi only but crowded by quite internationally active older
tech-oriented Internet freaks, like some central guys from the Telecom
Finland and other telcos and access providers like EUnet plus of course
from software companies (like ICL, F-secure) etc.

A lot of it is work and biz rumours etc., quite often you hear the news
couple of days before it'll be on the newspapers, but usually it is just
social being like talking about kids (most guys there are married with
children) and food and tv (they watch it in the most critical way as they
often now the background of the things presented in the public media) and
the good things in life such as drinking and holidays in nature.

This evening we talked some about what the holidays back home in far north
are always like, mostly about the food our grandmothers cook and bake -
I'd guess that's universally quite a common topic :)

The current flutter/ (permanently http://an.org/flutter/eighth.html)
starts from wednesday and ends up here to Friday evening, there's the
IRC-log of the "pulla"-talk even. Pulla is the thing the grandmothers and
(luckily!) their daughters bake.

The whole a flutter thing is awfully messy - typical me - but at least a
bit more colourful way to put out things than all these e-mails..

I'll be back on Monday, hopefully motivated enough to do all the heavy
things that the an-inet98 would desparately need.
