banning:
irc works with channels (or "rooms") and the bans are separate for each
channel. i went to check some modes now, most of the channels i use to be
on seem to be secret nowadays and then there's no need for bans. the guys
told however that the .com and .edu are quite often banned nowadays too.
they are telling me that a bigger problem is that the operators have
trouble keeping the irc networks together. ircnet europe and america were
separated for about a year and are only loosely connected at the moment. i
haven't been following that really.
