from all I know from before and what has been told on the list, I'd love
to come to meet those people, discuss the topics and see Copenhagen (where
I was, in fact, shortly two weeks ago).
But, not having an-y/thing to sell, the value is still an issue for me.
Business people have their costs covered and may well bring profit from
the new ideas, connections etc. for their company. I - *luckily* - don't
_have_ to.
I don't need to create business. I don't need to make money. I don't care
if "fellow attendees will be active business people and worth meeting:
entrepreneurs, executives, investors, new-technology vendors. .. people
actually building the new online marketplace in Europe."
Builders are not developers. Investors are not creators. Vendors are ..
well, salesmen says my dictionary. Are they really the people who could
give "analytical insight into the structure and complex dynamics of the
market." as the web-ad continues? I'm afraid I have to doubt that.
This probably sounds both naive and ridiculous but I really am after, most
of all, understanding and true comprehension of how the Internet works in
the society. I sincerily don't know if the event even tries to approach
this impossible goal. Does it? And even more: can it succeed? If not, it
has no value for me. Otherwise I probably should be busy arranging the
trip..
