an-perspective to the global browser scene and Dutch activities
About
Here are described some of the activities, mainly browser trends in the freeware community and peeks to the graphics design peoples world. This is not a good esclusive browser-site, more the opposite, but places mozilla.org, openscape.org, waag.org, and of course netscape.com, microsoft.com and e.g. browserwatch.com might help if that's what you need.
A Finnish friend who had been reading these pages critizised that the (Dutch) new media people who organized the browser day (and me) are on the wrong track. Browsers should be just gateways to the sites, as transparent and standard as possible, and the user interface design should be left to the site designer.
I agree, especially having quite nomad ways of using the net myself (I have no computer, sometimes hardly a home other than this site) that a diversity of all kinds of non-compatible browsers would be a horror. Yet I find these new thoughts about especially different ways of navigating fruitful - the web is not about sites but their networks, and the browser is the tool to make the way there. (An-other thing is that the web is boring and has nothing to do with the net so who cares about browsers an-y/way ;)
