- "kan ik je helpen?"

ja, but sorry, i don't speak dutch very well.

- "ok. what's your problem?"

well, hm. i'm not sure if i came to the right place,
but i believe you can search for missing persons?

- "who is it you're missing?"

that's the reason why i'm not sure if you can help,
cause it's really no police business, no crime
or emergency or anything is the case.

- "well, what then?"

it's just that i needed to find one person and deliver a message to him.
we were supposed to meet now this evening here on leidsplein but he
didn't show up and actually i was late myself.

we met there last weekend and had an interesting discussion and he wanted
to start teching me philosohpy and today we were going to make plan it
futher..

- "what do you know about him, name?"

no, i forgot the name, but i
do believe that i know enough to identify him,
if i only had all the information.

he's indian, 61 years old, and lives
in a house in some of the small streets near prinzengracht.
he's a professor but i don't know if he works at the university anymore.

- "you really should know the name .. i don't think we can help you,
afterall, it's saturday, and i'm afraid there's nothing we can do."

oh i understand .. i was just wondering, and of course it's no matter of a
day, but i just happened to be here right now.

do you have any idea who could help?

- "perhaps you could try the university?"

yes i probably could.

but. hmm. just one more thing:

let's assume that you really needed to find him. like, if he was a
criminal or something. do you think you could find him then?

- "well if he was a suspect for a murder something might happen"

i believe you could list all the 61-year old people living in the
neigbourhood and probably not too many of them are indian professors.

- "yes, we could probably come up with only a few options"

i understand that i can't do it myself, that it's against all those
privacy laws and whatever, but you have the authority so it would work
out. and in this case i don't want any information about him, nothing at
all, just to deliver a short message so that he can contact me if he wants
to. so it wouldn't threat anyone's privacy or anything.

but i don't think you could work that out even if i paid or anything..?

- "no, we don't do that"

it's a pity

- "well, such is life"

*sigh*, thanks anyway, ...
