do you know twiddler?

went to see a virtual / augmented
reality demo today here at the
university and those people
recommended it when i told about
working on a dance/text performance.

altavista gave me
http://www.media.mit.edu/projects/wearables/hands.html
and consequently
http://www.1stresource.com/~mistered/twiddle.htm (drivers for Pilot!) and
http://www.handykey.com/ which is the company that makes it.

being unpractical and having more
artistic interests - i guess - i
sort of like the idea of carrying
(or actually hanging a keyboard
on my shoulders somehow, see
http://www.netppl.fi/~/pics/montaasi94.jpg
and the red&green plastic wires there!)
a normal size keyboard - just to

emphasize the weird an-(ti.)connection
between the body and qwerty, where i live.

Rikard e-mailed from Japan, I have photographs
to show him .. luckily they gave a CD too when
i went to take the pictures back from the lab
.. they were taken on a funny ASA1000 film
and look weird,

this afternoon the virtual reality was a weird
experience. i put on a helmet, that showed
a stereo-video of what a small radio-controlled
car saw, and i could turn my head around to
see what was surrounding the car .. it had a clever
mirror allowing a full 360 degrees image and
sensors indicating my head position ..

was weird to drive towards my own feet. the
same kind of thing happened yesterday on TV
in this space opera called Babylon 5, where
one guy got an artificial eye to replace the
one he lost - the new one he could take out
of the eye hole, so he took it out and turned
it around to see himself - was weird

anyway, just wanted to know if you think
the twiddler is any good for my kind of
stuff,

btw: do you know Peter Rubin? He's from New York
but lives now again in Amsterdam, knows some
STEIMppl. He used to work in MAZZO/O22VW, from
the late 70s till the 90s i guess .. we met
in Helsinki last week, was great fun.

hope you're all fine, and not too busy.
